AEC enhances Preparedness and Response arrangements and capabilities to Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies in Uganda

As the nation embraces the benefits of nuclear technology using radiation sources in various sectors including medical, industry, agriculture, it is crucial to ensure that frameworks are in place for timely and coordinated response to a nuclear or radiological emergency. Section 8 (k) and (l) of the Atomic Energy Act, Cap 154 (Act) requires the Atomic Energy Council (AEC) to assist in emergency responses to radiological incidents and to initiate, recommend or provide support on interventions relating to radiological emergencies, as may be appropriate.
